Drip Email Marketing Review:
Is it Right For You?

So you’re in the market for a great email marketing service with extensive marketing automation capabilities and you’re looking at Drip. In this Drip Email Marketing Review, I’m gonna share seven reasons why Drip may (or may not) be right for you.

play

Drip is a pretty slick and powerful marketing automation platform that a lot of people seem to be talking about recently. It’s a platform I switched to in February of 2017 and have been using actively ever since.

It wasn’t a decision I took lightly. Since I teach people about blogging, I felt the need to fully evaluate all the top platforms out there to be able to speak about them in an educated way as well as let people know what’s best for them.

The truth is - Drip isn’t for everyone. It’s not a beginner-level email marketing service.

Do any of the following apply to you?

1. You’re just getting started and all you need is a service where you can send automated emails in a specific sequence.
2. You’re just looking for a way to keep in touch with your list of subscribers and send them relevant information.
3. You don’t have a significant budget to get your email marketing up and going.

Drip is NOT for you. I would recommend choosing a different platform. One like GetResponse. It’s a great platform for beginners and even has MANY advanced features that allow you to step up your email marketing and marketing automation.

But Drip has a few AWESOME features that make it an ideal email marketing and marketing automation platform for bloggers and other business owners who have products to sell.

Especially if you want to use advanced marketing automation features with powerful segmentation and advanced funnels while integrating with your other systems.

In this post, I will highlight seven reasons why I chose Drip.

I love the Drip Dashboard

The Drip Dashboard summarizes some very key pieces of information in an easy and straightforward way.

It shows you the the following:

1. The amount of visitors that come to your site
2. The amount of signups.
3. The amount of conversions.

I can get a quick and easy idea of what’s working in my business. And that’s a beautiful thing.

Marketing Automation Features

Now, this isn’t exclusive to Drip, but I love the way it allows for tagging, segmentation and how the visual workflow builder works.

These are some of the reasons why people choose services like Drip and even those like ConvertKit and Active Campaign. These services are all built to give you some high-level features to help you send very targeted emails to the right people.

Drip Automation Workflow

Campaigns, Rules and Workflows

When I first evaluated Drip, I was turned off by the fact that they had 3 different ways of automating how emails are sent and what actions happen with your subscribers.

You could create campaigns, which are automated email sequences. But then you could create rules, which are if-then conditions. In other words, you can say IF a certain event happens, then trigger a certain action.

But what was strange to me is that that action could be sending an automated email.

And then you had workflows where you could build out a visual funnel, sending more automated emails as well as doing a bunch of other actions.

Then I started exploring it further and analyzing why it was set up that way and fell in love with it.

Drip - Conversion Rule

It became obvious to me that they understood how advanced marketers thought.

If you’re doing it well, there are different ways you’ll be communicating with your subscribers.

By having campaigns, automation rules AND workflows, they are making it easier for us to market well in all the different scenarios we find ourselves in.

For some things, I don’t want to create an entire workflow. Instead, I can use a simple rule. For other email marketing campaigns, all I need is to send an automated sequence in a certain order at specific intervals. For that, I create a campaign.

And when I need to tie together multiple steps to create an advanced funnel, workflows make it easy for me to make it happen. Their system was carefully thought out and built from the ground up with marketers in mind.

Site Tracking

Drip has some of the most advanced site tracking capabilities I’ve seen. Picture this. Someone comes to your blog. They read an article, then go to your Home page to get an idea of what your site is about.

Drip Site Tracking

They visit your about page and eventually end up finding out about this awesome free resource they can get by joining your email list.

They fill out a form and opt in to get your free gift. Drip will not only subscribe them to your email list, it will also go back and indicate all the pages they visited BEFORE subscribing.

In other words, you’re able to see exactly what path that person took to becoming a subscriber, even though they weren’t subscribed when they took that path.

In many of the other services, they start tracking only AFTER that person has subscribed and clicked a link to indicate that they are the same person who visited your site.

And Drip will continue tracking every time they visit your site and be able to show you where they visited

Great Email Deliverability Rates

When I was considering switching to Drip, we decided to do an in-depth analysis of how different platforms performed in terms of deliverability.

In other words – making sure you emails reach your subscribers inbox and reducing the chances that they land in their spam folder.

When we conducted multiple tests, Drip was consistently on the higher end where deliverability is concerned.

Since that’s so important, Drip kept rising to the top of the list.

Lead Scoring Included with ALL Accounts

Imagine being able to rate your subscribers on how actively engaged they were.

Imagine being able to assign a score based on their level of engagement and then treat them differently based on that score.

Here’s the fact – not all subscribers are created equally. And you want to have a way of identifying your most engaged subscribers. Lead scoring does this.

While other platforms like Active Campaign have lead scoring capabilities, it’s offered on their higher level plans which end up costing more than Drip and offer more features than I would EVER use.

Drip Lead Score

Drip includes Lead Scoring with all plans. But it also goes a step further in allowing you to create custom lead scores based on specific activities.

For example, let’s say you have a food blog with all kinds of recipes.

Let’s say you have a subscriber that keeps visiting your vegetarian recipes. Every time that person visits a vegetarian recipe, you can give them 1 point to their Vegetarian lead score.

Then you can filter your subscribers by the amount of times they’ve visited those recipes. Let’s say you filter subscribers who have visited at least 10 vegetarian recipes.

That makes them the PERFECT person to send a promotion about your new vegetarian cookbook. Do you see how powerful that is?

Extensive Integration Capabilities

Every email marketing service allows you to integrate with other services.

But what I ABSOLUTELY LOVE about Drip is that their integration tends to be deeper than some of their counterparts.

For example, I can go into Drip and see when someone made a purchase via stripe, how much they spent and what their lifetime value is. All of this can be tracked automatically.

I don’t have to go to Stripe to find that out. I can do it right there in Drip.

Drip Integrations

Those are my seven reasons for Loving Drip. One thing I know about these services is that they keep innovating. Some of the things I mention today about Drip may be included in more services in the future.

But for now, I’m all about the Drip. And if these seven reasons I covered in this video are reasons that resonate with you, I recommend checking them out.
