HAPPY NEW YEAR From The Sunny Carribean!

2014OnBeach

This is the year of many things AWESOME. This is the year of taking action. This is the year of taking things to the next level.

This is the year that I've decided to LEAVE MY JOB.

Listen to This Episode

Yes, you heard that correctly. I'm leaving my job – a job that I love. A job that I am so tremendously blessed to have.

I'm currently an assistant professor in a doctor of Physical Therapy program and I LOVE what I do. Teaching is what I was made forΒ – Well, one of the things I was made for

However, my wife and I have made the decision that it's time to do something different. This has NOT been an easy decision, but it's one that we know is the right one.

Why would I do that? Great question. There are a number of reasons, but I'm not going to tell you. Nope. If you want to know what those reasons are, guess what you're going to have to do?

You're gonna have to LISTEN TO THE EPISODE πŸ˜‰

I don't only share why I made the decision. I also share what my plans are for taking what I do to the next level so that I can afford to leave my job, and how that will benefit YOU!

Yep, it's not all about me. It's about YOU.

I will consider myself successful if:

  • I'm able to leave my job at the end of June, 2014 and have my business completely take care of the financial needs of my family.
  • You are able to follow along, learn, take action and accomplish big things with your blog
  • I'm able to spend more time with my family
  • I succeed in CHANGING THE WORLD! Muhahahahaaaaa!

Yep, that is what it's all about.

So go ahead and listen to the episode and then answer this one simple question:

ARE YOU WITH ME?

How to Subscribe To The Show

  • Glad I found you… this post completely prompted me to subscribe to you on iTunes. I’ve found my morning and evening commute entertainment! Your goals for 2014 are the same as mine, except I also want to be able to leave my job AND start a family. I can’t wait to listen to this episode and all of your back episodes. I’m not usually a “New Year’s Resolution” kind of person, but this year I am pumped up!!!

  • rodlie says:

Wow. That’s a huge deal. Much love for you and I’ll be praying that this is an awesome year for you and your family. I’m also hoping that this is a big year for my blog. I’m almost done with a free resource. Thanks for again for all you do. Our prayers are with you.

  • pocketidea says:

Happy New Year Leslie! and Congratulations for your decision you have made, I am sure you will do it great as always.. Cheers!

  • Allison MacLeod says:

Hi Leslie, I am one of those silent listeners of your blog – I have never commented before and it has been well over a year since I found your podcasts however your 2014 plans sound sooo exciting.
I wish you every success and I look forward to following your journey during 2014 as co-incidentally I am on the same path as you:) Cheers Allison

    • Silent or not, I’m glad to have you Allison. Thanks for taking the time to leave this encouraging comment. But don’t be silent in 2014. I want to know how you guys are doing on this journey too. That way we can reach our goals together. Lets do this! πŸ™‚

  • Lucy Jennings says:

    Leslie,
I’m with you! I’ve been a member of Become a Blogger for three years, and in that time also encountered a lot of other sources to learn from. Most of them have come and gone, but you remain my #1 source. Maybe it’s because I’m trying to juggle teaching, family and blogging, just like you, but I think it’s more because you are so genuine and down to earth. I too am planning a change in my life, I’m going to retire early in one year, and it’s scarey. Retirement won’t be enough income to live on, but I have to do it. I love teaching too (first grade), but I want to help parents raise creative children. So I want to change that part of the world with my blog and books. I would like to know more about your Mastermind Group, I know it will be quality because all of your work is. God bless you and your beautiful family. You know what is important in life.

    • Wow Lucy. Thank you so much for being here for so long and for all your support over the years. I hear you on those changes being scary. To be honest, I was kinda stressing out today. So much to do in so little time, but if God is for us, who can be against us? Lets do this! πŸ™‚

  • Tameka Graham says:

    Pure Awesomeness!

  • Happy New Year. I am with you all the way. Congratulation on taking the stp to the next level.

  • Danielle says:

Happy New Year! Hello Leslie this is the first time I’ve been here. I
enjoyed the podcast and much success to you. I am with you.

  • Robert says:

    Happy 2014 Leslie!
I am looking forward to hearing this episode.
I have been praying for the direction God would have me go and since 2014 began I have already begun my Podcast show My Every Day Freedom to Help others like me to achieve their every day freedom to live their destiny and purpose!
This is going to be an Awesome Adventure!

  • Leslie this podcast is on time for me. I am also complicating leaving my job as a professor, and I had been going back and forth about it. But this podcast may have just pushed me over the edge. Thanks for sharing this. Be Blessed.

    • Wow Amos. This definitely is a big decision. I pray that you come to the decision that’s best for you and your family. All the best in 2014. Lets do this! πŸ™‚

  • One word: Authentic. Now more words… I had a sense when I heard you were going for the Ph.D. that “balance” would be critical. I mentioned this to you with my blessings. Incredible decision you made to now go for balance, family, and being able to give 100% to your journey rather than being spread too thin.

One quality that I continue to love most about you that always, always inspires me is your willingness to let go, surrender, and make changes. Your ability here in a world of a lot of “stuck-ness” is quite magnificent. It is one thing to leave a job you hate… but to leave a job you love.. now that is something altogether bold and impressive.

Well lucky me… and us – the community. I suppose this means we get more of you πŸ™‚ I’ll take it!

Thanks for your authenticity, transparency, and devotion to the truth.

    • I love that word – “stuck-ness”. Thank you so much Dr. Nicki for being a part of this community. Your presence is definitely felt. People like you who have been listening consistently, giving feedback and encouragement are a big part of what motivates me to go on. So thank you, and Happy New Year. Lets do this! πŸ™‚

  • Dr Kashonia Carnegie says:

Congratulations Leslie on your decisions for 2014. I think it’s so very sensible and all so exciting too.

    I
was in your first BAB2.0 Premium class a few years ago. You inspired
    me then and this New Year message is just as inspiring in so many ways;
far too many to comment on them one-by-one.

    Due to some major
changes in my life over the last few years I haven’t been keeping a
close eye on what you’ve been up to and haven’t even been blogging.
However, 2014 is all set to be a great year for me too. A year when I
get back to the blogging which I love.

    Just one question. You
said how in 2012 (I think it was) your Interactive Biology Blog reached
the 6 figure mark. Other than your study guide, you don’t seem to be
selling anything on your blog, and there is no membership fees. Can you
tell me what you did, and intend to do again, to bring in 6 figures
    from your blog.

I wish you every good wish in the world for your 2014.

    Kashonia

    • Kashonia, thank you so much. I’m glad to know that you are inspired to take action. To answer your question, the 6 figures was not from Interactive Biology alone. It was actually mostly Become A Blogger income. You can see the details in my year in review post here – https://www.becomeablogger.com/13871/year-in-review-458828-people-117973-40-later-lessons-learned/

Glad to have you on board for 2014. Lets do this! πŸ™‚

    • Kashonia Carnegie says:

      Hi Leslie,
I missed your Year in Review post – but have now just looked at it.
First, I’m amazed at your Adsense income. I didn’t think anyone made anything out of that. But $12K is excellent.

But most importantly, thank you so much for sharing those private details and being so open and honest about it all to help us. I appreciate it so much. That’s what I meant when I said that you are such an inspiring person.
Once again, I trust that 2014 will be fantastic for you. You are a very special person indeed.

    • Oh, there are people who make ten times as much as I do with Adsense. You’d be surprised. And then there are those who graduate from Adsense and use a mix of other networks that take it to the next level. I’m going to be experimenting with a lot of that in 2014 so stay tuned πŸ˜‰

  • Sheila LyonHall says:

Leslie … What a phenomenal and gutsy decision! I applaud you and your wife! I’ll be keeping an eye on you because I want to bear witness to what manifests from your calculated β€œLeap of Faith!” Here’s my 2014 Blessing for you and your family. β€œMay the New Year arrive with Great Gusto … relentless in its delivery of Peace, continued Prosperity and Phenomenal Joy. Happy New Year, Leslie!” Shalom!

    • Thanks for your support and your blessings Sheila. 2014 will be an interesting journey, but I’m glad to have the support of the Become A Blogger community. Lets do this! πŸ™‚

  • lucrecer says:

I had a feeling your announcement was going to be leaving the job. That is awesome and I wish you all kinds of success. Like you said, my family is hands down ten times more important to me than a job and I find I am getting to the point where I need to have the flexibility to be a good mother at this time in my children’s lives.
Good for you, Leslie! I am looking forward to all the amazing things to come for you and your family. Continued blessings!

  • Bob Skelton says:

Leslie, I have been a listener to your podcast for a few years now and I have always wondered how you do what you do. Now I know. I fully support your decision to quit your J-O-B and turn your attention towards your family. Go get’em.

    • I hear ya Bob. I’ve been trying to figure out how I do what I do and how to do more. Now, I think I know πŸ˜‰

Glad to have you on the journey. Lets do this! πŸ™‚

  • I am so excited for you! What an adventure!!! And I am planning on being here to support you and learn from what you are doing!!!

  • Congratulations, Leslie! I’m sure this decision didn’t come easy, but I’m also sure it’s the right one for you and your family. It’s so very clear how important they are to you. I’m super excited to follow your adventures this summer and beyond!

  • Go head brother man. Go big; GOD big! Move forward, stay focus, take small steps to compound that BIG mission. Compound effect status will build up that momentum train. Prayers up for you and you calling in life!

  • Rose of www.roselewisquilting. says:

    Leslie, Congratulations.
It isn’t easy to make such a big decision,
but you are always so very focused so you will be fine.
you give so much to all of us that follow you and I know that I appreciate it.
Thank you and I look forward to what is ahead.

  • David Silles McLaney says:

Wow, that’s a brave move Leslie. I wish you all the best with it all. It’s a very brave move, but by putting your faith and your family before everything else, I think you’ll be safe, even when things get rough. I will be following along, and trying to learn from what you do. Wishing you the best of luck with everything. Happy New Year 2014

  • Mormo Zine says:

My friend I think you are making a huge mistake. A year from now blogs could be the new MySpace. Please get your PhD.

    • Remember – after myspace came Facebook. Long term success is not dependent on one platform. It’s more dependent on your ability to adapt. And if I need to choose between my family and a PhD, I choose my family. The letters don’t mean anything to me.

    • I agree! When I was at Full Sail University getting my bachelors for Music Business and Entrepreneurship, the music business marketing teacher clearly told us what we were getting was just a piece of paper. It has no value or meaning at all. It’s you that make it or yourself valuable towards others with the knowledge and skills you learn at a school. The most “valuable people” in the world don’t have much money they just know what’s valuable, how to become valuable and how to add and deliver that value in a way that helps others while getting paid much more value in the form of generated income. It’s not necessary Les. And you do what God has called you to do.

  • Samsul Roziq says:

Leslie, I have been a listener to your podcast for a few years now and I have always wondered how you do what you do.

  • Congratulations! I just recently found your site and I LOVE what you do. Your energy is contagious and you’re so resolute in your mission. It’s refreshing. I’m thrilled for you and your family. Looking forward to following your adventures over time!

  • christinajosephone says:

Congrats ! Great work and keep it up…

  • jennifererrasta says:

HI Leslie , Congratulation…!! your blog is awesome.

  • steveborgman says:

Leslie, your integrity impresses me. You’re making decisions based on your family, and that’s just great! I, like you, love my work, and in that order, my business actually comes last at this point in my life πŸ™ I’d love to hear, on a future podcast, how people who work full-time can decide what aspects of their business to work on, even while somewhat cash strapped (that’s me:)

  • Monty says:

That is Awesome. I’m happy for you and proud of you.

  • Guest says:

Great podcast Leslie! Thank you! First I wish the best of health to your parents. It is very hard to watch a Loved Ones suffer. It is a time of make surprising decisions. I am so glad that your Mom is so much better.

I am very excited to see how you meet the goal to increase your income on you Biology blog. I know you can do it and it will be so valuable to all of us! Financial freedom isnt about money, it is about the freedom to live live as we want to instead of watching it pass us by..

Now, about your announcement. I have followed you for while, I know that you love your job. You will grieve it but we cant do everything on our “list” all at once. And maybe something EVEN BETTER is on the horizon. I know the students will miss you.

    Regarding 2014-When you used the “D” word—discipline- I shutter a little.LOL!

It has been my worst weakness. I also know it is a lot of peoples’ weakness from th membership forums I am in. Dicilpine and a step by step–day by day–plan.

It is like an abyss between us and success. I dont understand why it is so difficult.

How did you get so good at it???? I think it is the #1reason for failure on line.

I am glad I found you and I wish the best to all of us in this magical year! Thanks for everything! Mary

    • Thank you so much for your feedback and encouragement. Means a lot.

In terms of your question, discipline is still something I struggle with. However, it’s something that I’ve notice gets easier the more I practice it. So I think that’s the key. Keep working at it and it’ll come together.

  • Jessica says:

    Hi Leslie!
I agree with your article! In now a day’s blogging is one of the best way to get freedom from financial struggles and it’s an independent way to work individually without any other boss. Thanks for sharing excellent views for becoming new bloggers in upcoming days.

  • Ellen Sun says:

Leslie, I just listened to this episode a couple months late but still want to wish you a happy new year and thank you for all your content and podcast, especially this episode. I wish your mom and your family lots of health and happiness.

I am SO with you, and you got me very inspired on my drive to work on a Monday morning! (not an easy task) I’ve been thinking a lot about starting my blog and creating other forms of content for many of the same reasons you had. I would love to set my sight on having enough success three years from now to be a case study for your “becoming a blogger” members. πŸ™‚

    Ellen

    • Hi Ellen,

Glad to hear that this episode was an inspiration to you. Yes, it’s definitely an interesting journey and I wish you nothing but success as you start your journey.

      All the best!
