By Leslie Samuel | Blogging

Sep 11

Ok, so you know who your ideal target person is (also called your customer avatar).

Now what?

Listen to This Episode

That's exactly what Dr. Nicki called in to ask, and in this episode I give a very simple, step by step answer.

You will learn exactly what to do once you know who you're trying to reach.

Inside This Episode

LWL_129_How To Cater To Your Ideal Target PersonUnderstanding who you are trying to target with your blog is a fundamental thing that many bloggers don't think about. This is a problem.

If you don't know who you are targeting, you will never really know what kind of content you should be making nor where to find them.

However, once you've defined who they are, you've still got lots of work to do. In this episode I cover:

  • What you need to know about your ideal target person
  • A quick and dirty (not really dirty) way to come up with a ton of valuable content
  • Where to find your person
  • How to get them to visit your site
  • How to LOVE your person. Yes, I said LOVE
  • How to go above and beyond what everyone else is doing

Lots of valuable content here that I hope you enjoy. Questions? Comments? Suggestions? Call the hotline @ (888) 835 – 2414

How to Subscribe To The Show

  • Thanks for sharing. This makes so much sense. I have found LinkedIn groups to be very helpful. I have even gain some new Facebook fans by joining and commenting in groups.

  • Wow Leslie… thank you so much! From the depths of my heart 🙂 I knew your approach would be creative, unique, and articulate.

I will be putting the steps into practice. I wrote it all down while listening to you on the train to a San Francisco business conference and then again today while finishing the podcast while walking to a coffee house that I am now sitting in, working on my website.

Now I have a much stronger sense of how to approach, communicate with (and love:) my “ideal target person.”

    Thank you SO much…

Leslie, Thanks so much for such a helpful episode. I immediately started applying the strategies you listed. My favorite tip: Love your ideal person. Think of her or him as a person, not a number, not an avatar. I have a separate question. One one of my blogs, I am trying to reach people specifically on the topic of Aspergers. I consider my ideal clients to be parents of children with Aspergers, but also adults with Aspergers, and also professionals who are working with clients with Aspergers. Is this too much for one site? Or should I narrow it down to just one “ideal client” ?

    • Hi Steve,

I would definitely target one ideal client. The content that’s relevant to the parents won’t be as relevant to the professionals and vice versa. By focusing on one, you can give them exactly what they are looking for.
