Inside This Episode

I've always thought that it's good to look back on where you've come from before moving forward from time to time. It helps to give you perspective, especially when you're about to embark on a new journey.

HoldingHands.jpgWell, that's exactly what I do in this episode. More specifically, I cover the following:

  • My story – How I got into internet marketing and blogging
  • When it was all about money for me
  • What caused my perspective to change
  • My blogging history
  • Where we (you and I) are going next
  • How you can help

Announcements

  • The new journey begins on August 1. We've got all of the content for August and are working on the month of September.
  • On Thursday at 7pm, I'm hosting a Google Hangout where you get an Insider Perspective on Become A Blogger. I take you behind the scenes of what's happening right now. I'd love for you to join me.
  • I'm going to be in Kinderhook, NY in 2 weeks. If you are in the area and would like to Meet up on Sunday, August 11th, let me know in the comments below.

Listener Feedback/Questions

  • Jason from Application Talk called into the hotline with a great suggestion – Have listeners call in and help me out with my intro by suggesting things that Google can do to mess blogs up. For example – when Google has a mood swing. If you don't know what this means, listen to the first minute of the podcast episode.
  • Kathy Strahan from Lean Body Works called in to ask about how to prevent new user registrations in WordPress.

I share tips and strategies that I’ve learnt building blogs since 2008 and interview experts who are knowledgable about various aspects of blogging so that we can learn from their experiences.

If you’re a blogger, thinking about becoming a blogger (pun intended) or are not even sure if blogging is right for you, go ahead and tune in to see what this blogging thing is all about.

best of luck with it, as someone with 30 writers, it’s a job in itself managing things.
I know I talk about money a lot these days but I have to be honest in what I do. I love sports, but my site is a business, it’s just a natural progression of meteoric growth, it isn’t a choice as I need to support myself and the increasing costs of running a site with millions of visitors. I also feel I owe it to my writers to bring in as much as I can for the site as they are paid on a profit sharing model. When I started they weren’t paid and wrote for free but once money came in they are all paid. Would be some pretty bad Karma to do my videos from the beaches of the exotic vacations I get to take and then say I can’t pay the guys who help me make it possible. Having the money to cover the expenses and be comfortable isn’t something I am ashamed or embarrassed about. I may not have changed the world but I have changed peoples lives, especially those who helped me change mine and that’s not such a bad thing..I hope you and everyone gets a chance to feel this..I know you can do it..

    • Thanks bro. Actually – I will disagree with one thing you said. You said “I may not have changed the world but I have changed peoples lives”. I believe that we change the world by changing peoples lives. You NEVER fully know the kind of impact you are having. Those lives you are changing are significant.

Keep moving forward bro. What you have accomplished is inspiring indeed!

Leslie, I cant wait to check out the new program. Will you have an affiliate program?

    • I do have an affiliate program, but since I’ve taken Become A Blogger premium off the market, it’s not something I’m actively promoting. As I mentioned in the podcast, I’m focusing on the free stuff for right now. However, I do need to work on the affiliate program because if you refer someone to the free stuff, you could make some money later on if they do purchase something when I start selling. I need to focus on this stuff first though.

    Hi Leslie!!!!!

This was an amazing podcast. The amazing thing about you, is that you are not only authentic and inspire complete trust, but also your heartfelt sharing and caring is off the charts. It is really special to me.

I noticed that you said “put you asleep on the couch” right away and it made me smile. It was funny and new. Change is the most important.

Being a part of your growth and change is really effecting me. It helps me believe that it is about doing. That is, to overcome fear and continue forth. I feel like you believe in me and I have never met you! For some reason, that encouages me.

Many of us are on our own in our personal life with this business, because this is so strange to the “work until retirement” individual.

I have been lucky to find a few great people on line, but your sincerity and business mind and over-delivering quality, puts you first on my list. Actually, you were the first sincere person I met after several scam artists..
    .
WOW, it is so exciting that you are adding to the free videos and They were already great.
When I get my list, they are going to love it. I know I will.

Also, I always open your emails and I do have a cluttered email box. And THANK YOU for the emails. I look forward to them!
I don’t understand the “itunes”thing tho, I am sorry about that.

This is a verbose comment, but this was an unusual podcast.

I cant tell you how to improve, I have no complaints only accolades.

The only thing I am needing to understand, is how to monetize my articles and blogs and promote people and products in a gentle but effective way!
I did buy your premium and am definitely open to new products you create.

Also, this podcast has encouraged me to write to you abiut some training I would like to purchase. You were the first one I thought of. I wont go into here. I always wish you the best!

    Happy Birthday!!! Mary

    • Hi Mary,

Thank you so much for your comment. I really do appreciate you taking the time to write me. It’s great to know that you are resonating so well with my message and that it’s helping you on your journey. That’s just awesome.

Thanks for opening my emails and for listening to the podcast. In terms of monetizing your blog, I actually just recorded a video on that very topic and it will be added to the 10 FREE videos, so stay tuned – well at least until tomorrow.

And thanks for the early Birthday wishes 🙂

Hi Leslie, I’ll be available for your meetup on Sunday in Kinderhook. Please, let me know if it’s going to happen. We’ll be a pleasure and an honor to meet you in person. I love everything you do on this blog and on your podcast. You already is changing the world one blog at the time!!

    • Ahh man, I wish you would’ve said something sooner. I hadn’t heard enough back from people so decided not to do it. I’ll have to think this over. Will know by tomorrow.

    • Orlando Pandolfi says:

Ok Leslie. I post on your Facebook when you mention there that you were planning this meetup but you’re right, I’m late on listening your podcast. I listened ep. 123 today.

    • Hi Orlando, sorry about this, but my wife and I decided to not try to organize a meetup. We’re going to make this trip all about relaxing and spending time with each other without any of my online stuff. If I’m ever back in the area, I’ll try to do a meetup then. Would’ve been great to meet you in person this weekend.

    • Orlando Pandolfi says:

Enjoy your family time! Next time you’ll be around let me know. Wish you and your wife a great performance at the church. Have a great weekend!

    • Actually, we will be doing music at a church on Saturday. If you’re interested in coming there, let me know.
