No, I didn't do everything right.

Yes, I did make many mistakes along the way, and yes I would do things way differently if I could go back in time and talk to my old self.

Listen to This Episode

In this week's episode, I talk about ten of those things, so that you can benefit from my experience and build a blog where you can really Create Content, Inspire Others and even Change The World, while building your online business.

In This Episode

Think about blogYou may be just getting started with your blog, or maybe you've been blogging for a while like myself. There's always something to learn to help us to step up our game. Also, when we figure these things out, the best time to start implementing them would be NOW. What are the things I would've done differently? I'm glad you asked:

  • I would've focused on my Passion from Day 1
  • I would've focused on my Why from the VERY BEGINNING!
  • I would've started with a Blog
  • I would've built my list from the beginning
  • I would've only built 1 Blog
  • I would've started on on Video sooner
  • I would've started my Podcast sooner
  • I would've started creating products earlier
  • I would've outsourced earlier
  • I would've started/joined a Mastermind group sooner

So there you have it. Of course, in the actual podcast episode I elaborate on these 10, talk about why they are significant, and maybe I even included a bonus tip in there. I guess you'll just have to listen to find out 😉

  • Another information podcast!! Thanks!

  • Thanks for sharing. I need to do most of these steps now.

  • Vera says:

Hi Leslie, I would have found Become a Blogger and signed up for your Premium Courses much earlier. 🙂 Having step by step instructions helped me stay focused and not become overwhelmed.

All of the “things I should have done sooner” resonate with me, especially “find a master mind group”. Maybe you could give us some tips on finding the right group.

  • I love that you have given us such transparent information. These steps are things that will definitely help many people avoid the things that will not grow their presence. There are many items that I will be putting into action. Thanks for sharing this info with us.

  • What would I do differently? Hmmm! I pretty much would have probably done your entire list! lol! I think what I would have done the most is number one. But here’s the thing with me is that I have multiple passions and all the blog advice out there that says, “Pick on niche and focus on it” would not have worked for me.

I was blessed to listen to a Podcast with Internet Business Mastery when they interviewed Emily Wapnick. And her blog (Puttylike.com) helps people who have multiple interests to find and overarching theme and the melt them all together to make a totally new niche or market that has never existed. She calls them, “multipotentialites.”

She defines us as, “A multipotentialite is a person who has many different interests and creative pursuits in life.” And she also put what Wikipedia defines people like me as. It says, “An educational and psychological term referring to a pattern found among intellectually gifted individuals. [Multipotentialites] generally have diverse interests across numerous domains and may be capable of success in many endeavors or professions, they are confronted with unique decisions as a result of these choices.”

Picking on niche or topic for me was truly hard and a struggle for me. I started writing first about Leadership, then ministry leadership, then hip-hop ministry, then team building, then fatherhood, then creative ministry development, then poetry, the music business, then church structure, then marriage God’s way, then Business God’s way, then my favorite Bible character after Jesus; King David.

King David became my overarching theme because King David was metaphorically involved in all these things. He was a leader, a ministry leader, a music minister, a team builder, a father, a creative person, a poet, he was involved with finances, he structured God’s people, he was married, and much much more. So Emily helped me find that out now all my books, courses, projects, and content relate to using King David as a symbolic type of representation of all these things in Christ Jesus! So I don’t have to pick “one niche.” I can actually do all these things and make it all work.

So that’s what I would have done. Picked a foundational theme for which all my various topics could flow as one big niche!

    • I hear you Ricardo. It’s difficult when you are passionate about so many things. I fully understand that struggle as I struggle with it even today. Glad to see that you were able to ultimately pick one theme though. That really does help!

  • Yes sir! How’s Noah and your wife doing?

  • Angie Wilson says:

Thats a pretty impressive piece of information 🙂 as a blogger I am your fan now
