You’re in for a special treat today!

Today’s video is around 23 minutes long, and it shows you how to use an amazing new social media tool to help you grow your influence, whether it’s for your blog, or anything else online for that matter.

What’s amazing about this tool, is that even people like President Barack Obama uses it to influence literally hundreds of thousands of people, at the click of a button! Just imagine the awesome power you could yield with influence like that.

In any case, the new social media tool I’ll show you inside today’s video is called Twitter, and it’s basically a miniature form of blogging. It’s also called microblogging, and with only 140 characters at a time, the idea is to make regular updates of what you get up to during the day.

Ok, I know this sounds rather strange… I mean, how could a simple tool like this, where you only get 140 characters at a time to post stuff, have such a massive influence.

Believe me when I say that you won’t want to miss the Twitter train. Some people have already made a lot of money from using it, and some of the results have been rather staggering. One of my friends recently only sent out 2 Twitter posts, and made something like US$400 in the process!

Interested in finding out how he did it? Just check out the video now, and it will all make sense to you.

Here’s to your Twitter success!

Gideon,

Thank you so much for showing us how to use Tweetdeck. I have been looking for an application to keep all my contacts in order. There are so many out there and everyone recommends a different one, which makes it hard. I am now going to download Tweetdeck and try it out. I appreciate all you do. Thanks.

Phy February 11, 2009 at 3:12 pm

A typo - Both the Twitter links take us to Gideon’s account, none to Yaro.

Getting more followers is more than just tweeting quality. Being interactive, conversational with people is also key.

To get more followers the easier way, follow others. Like Gideon said in the video, people are likely to follow you back.

There are also some more web services you may want to try out to make life easier on Twitter: SocialToo.com, TweetLater.com (from the back of my head). Tons of other apps at http://twitter.pbwiki.com/Apps

To learn the tricks, i’d recommend Darren’s TwiTip.com (if you don’t already subscribe).

Thanks for pointing it out…

Hi
Great video - I’ve been addicted to Tweetdeck since I became addicted to Twitter a few months ago. It’s the only application that works really well and gives you so many options.

I downloaded your PDF of Roadmap to Become a Blogger a few months ago when I first became interested in blogging. I use this as a reference and resource all of the time.

You guys are great - thanks for the continued wealth of information.

Oh boy…I finally got used to Facebook! Now, I need to learn how to Twitter. Why do I always feel like I’m a step behind? Nonetheless, I will be setting a Twitter profile up in the next week or so. Thanks for the video and all of your other valuable information!

Gimme A Dream (Wynn Currie) February 11, 2009 at 5:27 pm

Thanks for the informative video. I’ve been a member of twitter for a year and a half but never really used it until recently. TweeDeck will be one more tool to learn, lol.

I really appreciate the free videos guys but…I am starting to fall asleep watching them. Zzzzz…zzz huh? I yeah where was I? Oh yeah…I remember now…:).

It’s just that I have to sit there through the musci and introduction on every one. Then I have wait for the message prompts to appear one at time, and then I have wait for one part of the video that I already know something about to finish before getting to the next part.

I would much rather have a written transcript that I could quickly digest. I don’t know. Maybe it’s just me but I read very quickly and I retain most of what I read. Having to listen to a very slow moving video is just well…slow. And starts putting me to sleep.

May I suggest making a transcript of your video available alongside each video? So that people get a choice to either watch the video and/or read the transcript?

Just a suggestion.

Thanks.

Gideon Shalwick Reply:

Hey Carlos

We have transcripts and downloads for the video files inside the members area.

We are opening doors to our members area again in a few weeks time, so keep watching your inbox for a notification email ok?

All the best!

Hi Gideon, thanks for this terrific info…I have not long started to twitter, and it really sort of confused me heaps. Your video has answered a couple of questions that I had, and now I have a better understanding about it and will not be afraid to use it.
The tweetdeck is the answer to one of the questions I had, and thanks to you, I will now get stuck into twittering.

Glenda February 12, 2009 at 1:03 am

Hey Gideon, I just recieved an email from Kris Mainieri telling us about Twhirl. It seems very similar to tweetdeck. I would say that tweetdeck is better??? Do you think it is? It was 2.30 am in Miami when Kris was explaining this in a video, so could not really follow it thoroughly.
I would appreciate you explaining the pros and cons, if you are familiar with Twhirl.
Thanks,
Glenda

Hi Gideon

What great timing! I saw another of my emails first about a report on how to use twitter for over $8. I clicked to pay but the page was running slow so I didn’t bother (luckily!) I then saw yaro’s email with your link (I am an affiliate of his also).

I can’t believe that you have shared such valuable information and I thank you and look forward to following you both on twitter.

Having just written a book on my personal experience about depression, I was thinking of ways of selling it and also how to advertise my depression blog and…hey presto!…I will be able to help so many people.

Thanks again guys,

Gideon,

Thanks so much for this video. You and Yaro Put Out Great Info.
I heard of Tweet Deck, but have been skeptical about Twitter overall, Just started getting serious about building relationships 2 days ago as a matter of fact.

The tool you share here is no longer intimidating for a guy that was afraid of wasting time or screwing something up.
Thanks Again,

Just love your stuff…am learning so much. Can’t thank you enough for illumining me. Questions: How do you keep from spending all your time reading and writing tweets? How do you catch up if you don’t do it for a few days? I love the idea just can’t imagine how I’d carve out the time to do it.

Heather on her travels February 15, 2009 at 10:19 am

One thing you should do as a blogger is set up an automatic tweet each time you post a new blog post. This is the Twitter equivalent of sending your post via RSS feed or e-mail & a great way of getting your blog posts out to a wider audience.

Twitme (Wordpress Plug-in)was mentioned above but I use Twitterfeed.

Gideon
Thanks for another wonderful tutorial. I have just installed tweetdeck and look forward to playing with it. I stopped using twitter because I had to watch it all the time for responses and I just couldn’t commit to the time factor involved. Now at least I can tweet people and continue what I am doing while I wait for a reply. A much better idea in a busy world.

Keep up the fantastic work, between you and Yaro, Rodney and I are building our blogsite and really enjoying it.
Thanks.

Vicki Williams February 19, 2009 at 8:34 pm

I insalled tweetdeck and while I had it open it announced my replies with a tweet. When I went to log back into twitter I didn’t have a connection to tweetdeck. Do I not use http://www.twitter.com anymore? What do I use to get to tweetdeck? When I log into tweetdeck I just get their homepage where we downloaded the program. I am confused! How do I find tweetdeck and use it from now on?

Gideon Shalwick Reply:

Hey Vicky

You can only use TweetDeck from now on… but of course, you will always have the option of using both TweetDeck and Twitter - some people do this.

TweetDeck is a separate application that would have been installed into your computer. Look for an application called TweetDeck under Start/Programs/TweetDeck… or wherever your new applications get installed to.

Depending on your settings, TweetDeck may have created a shortcut icon on your desktop as well, and if so, you can just double click on that icon to start up the program.

All the best!

Great video. I almost didn’t watch it because I thought I was up on everything Twitter. I knew of TweetDeck, but didn’t see the value until I saw this video.

Well, I downloaded it, installed it, and BAM! There were tons of @ replies that I never saw through the normal Twitter site or TwitterFox. I send out medical humor tweets and bloopers from hospital charts, called “Chart Farts (R)”. Apparently people were retweeting me like crazy & recommending me for #followfriday, and I never knew it. Not very “social”, huh?

Anyway, follow me & you’ll laugh your glutei off. Yes, that’s the plural, and yes, you need it :)
