Hi Betterrta

Thanks for pointing that out. I was not aware of that until recently. Wordpress must have just changed it after I did the video.

I'm overseas at the moment, so once I'm back home, I will make some time to fix the video.

In the mean time, you can go to the following site to find themes:

http://wordpress.org/extend/themes/

The process may not be exactly the same, but it should be similar at least.

All the best!

Hi Gideon,

I appreciate the videos, however themes.wordpress.net no longer exist. This makes it hard for me to follow the rest of the video. I've followed the instructions up to this point. However, I am stuck with selecting a theme. Please help

Hi Sharon

Thanks for your comment and very welcome feedback!

About your themes, it really depends on what exactly you've been modifying with your current theme.

If you've only changed things that does not involve the css stylesheets, you should probably be ok.

But the best is probably to back up your site and your database first before you do anything too intense. Unfortunately, backing up your site and database is a bit intense as well, and I cant explain to you inside this comment how to do it.

Although, for now, the following website might be able to help you out:

http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups

Have a read and see if that's what you want to do. If it's too complicated, perhaps ask someone technical to help you out.

Sorry I can't help more at this stage, but Yaro and I are currently working on a set of videos that, among other things, will show you how to backup your site and database step by step.

All the best!

Thanks for your extremely clear, helpful videos!

I should probably know the answer to this question, but I don't. You seem like a safe person to ask.

I want to see how my blog looks with different themes that I've found, but I'm afraid of losing all tweaks and enhancements I've made to the current theme's design.

If I've already been using a theme (I'll call it Theme #1)and I've tweaked some of its design elements (colors, font sizes or whatever), but I want to try out a new theme (Theme #2), will those changed elements on Theme #1 still work if I want to revert back to it after trying the new one? Or should I do a backup to save Theme #1 the way I tweaked it? If so, will you please explain the best way to back it up before trying out new themes?

Thanks so much!

Hi Nancy

It's a bit hard to know what could be wrong without being able to go into your blog admin area myself.

But here are some things you could check:

Inside your admin area, when you click on the Design tab and then on Themes, does the new theme you've uploaded show up there? If it does, make sure you've actually selected it by clicking on it.

If it does not show up there, you may have to re-upload the whole theme folder onto your server again. Make sure that you load the new theme to the correct place - double check where to upload the new theme files by watching the video again.

If you still have problems, let me know. Also, let me know what the name of your theme is, because it could be possible that the theme itself is faulty.

Regards

Hi,
This has got to be the best, most informative, easiest to use video EVER. I tried reading the Dummies Books, Idiot's Guides etc. and your video beats them all hands down. I was totally lost trying to understand what the books were saying and gave up after only a few pages. I love the way you TELL us what to do but then actually SHOW us how to do it .. what the screen looks like, where to look for the tab etc.
I can't thank you enough for making such a thorough, informative and virtually idiot-proof 'How To' video! My business website isn't finished yet but I guess there's nothing to stop me blogging before hand, now I know exactly how to do it. I've always loved to write but didn't know how to 'get it out there' until now.
The video is extremely well done and I look forward to seeing more of them but for right now ... I'm going to go get blogging!
Three thumbs up,
Lynn Daykin

Hello!

The blogging video tutorials are great! Thanks for creating them. I have downloaded a theme for the background (following the steps in video 7) but for some reason, it is not saving. I do see it in filezilla and the preview stage but when I go out to the internet explorer to visit the site, somehow it has reverted back to the generic theme on my blog page. Any tips?

Hi Terry

Yes, it's fairly straight forward to change the theme of your blog. If you set things up the way we teach in the videos, you shouldn't have any problems in the future.

If you do want to make significant changes to your blog in the future, just make sure you backup your whole blog first. More videos are coming shortly that will teach you how to do this.

Hi Sarv007

It depends on the kind of theme. It is possible that there will be a similar looking WordPress theme around.

I think your best bet would be to search for a theme that looks similar to your old one at http://themes.wordpress.net/

All the best!
