Thanks for the reassurance.
I have been running my engineering design business in various locations with a laptop for quite a few years.
With PDF I don’t even need a printer and haven’t bought any paper in years.
The clients don’t need to know where I happen to be. They get the plans and I get the money. It’s enjoyably convenient.
Came across quite a few people, doing the same, in my travels.

wordpress.org doesnot give access to version 2.6.3. They are currently on version 2.8. Going through their support process I find 2.5 and 2.7. I left a support inquiry for access to 2.6.3 last week but have had no response.

Hey Stephen

I’m not sure whether you are looking in the right place. I just went to have a look as per my instructions inside the video, and found that the link to 2.6.3 is still there.

For your convenience, here is the direct link to it:

Hi Gideon
Videos are great thank you. Was just wondering is there any reason you do not use Fantastico Deluxe in your hostgator cpanel to install wordpress. I am new to blogging but have built many websites and niche site and a lot of people recommend Fantastico so just wondering if there was a particular reason you don’t. Before I get started…
Many Thanks
V

Hey V

We’re recommending version 2.6.3 for a number of reasons. One main reason is because we wanted everyone to be “on the same page” as they go through the Become A Blogger Premium course. Teaching more than one version at the same time is simply not feasibly. Towards the end of the course though, we show everyone to upgrade to the latest version of WordPress.

So, yes, the Fantastico Delux method is very easy to use, but it can only install the latest version of WordPress, which is not always the best choice (eg a lot of bugs in the latest versions), and it will then mean we have people using multiple versions of WordPress inside the course - and as you can imagine, this will just be too confusing for people.

But if you are technically able, you should be able to figure out the differences between the version that we teach and the latest version.

All the best!

Hi Gideon and Yaro,

Just wanted to let u know I’m working my way through the videos on how to become a blogger.I can say that i’m actually enjoying learning how to blog and how to do it successfully! Im on video# 5, so that means I have discovered my passion, have chosen my domain name , have a web host, and have successfully installed WordPress. Whew! This is great! It’s going a little slow because I have to do it in between working a job, but it’s ok because I didn’t find you guys overnight, so I’m in a hurry but I’m not rushing it. I’m going step by step, and I’ll keep you posted.God bless you both and your families.Much continued success!

Hi Gideon,

I am following your videos step by step (they are very good) but cant find the video about unzipping the wordpress file 2.6.3 can you advise me please.

I had truoble downloading it and I noticed that my file is only 512KB and in the video yours is 1.44MB so what do you suggest I try as each time I download it it seems to be a different size??? Maybe this is why it wont let me unzip it or create an archive folder?

Please help!

Thanks Rich

Hey Richard

By the looks if it you may have not been able to upload the config file correctly…

Have you double checked your details when you modified the config file? And have you made sure you’ve uploaded it to the right place?

If this does not help, please contact Joel at http://www.BlogTechGuy.com and he should be able to set things up for your very quickly (for a small fee).

just curious as to why you don’t suggest using fantastico

thanks

[Reply]

Gideon Shalwick Reply:

Fantastico is cool, but it does not allow you to select which version of WP to install. And sometimes the latest version of WP is not always the best version… can be quite buggy sometimes.

Thanks Gideon,

That was very informative, thanks to replying. So it is not always a good thing to just update when worpress puts a new version up

Your videos are good but they get real complicated by the fourth one and then I think you’ll probably lose most people.
I use Yola because everything is so easy. Even the blog is instant to set up. God knows how someone who doesn’t know what a web host is will carry on through the fourth video. Anyway, Shabbat shalom

Yaro and Gideon, You guys are totally awesome! I appreciate these video’s!
I need them to keep me refreshed on how to do things as I am an older guy who needs to be reminded! One question I do have for either one of you is when added a second domain name….on wordpress…do you have to go through all the steps again? Or how do you go about this? Gosh if I know! Oh, Yaro I liked your blog about outsourcing! Very honest and to the point! Mona

Gideon Shalwick Reply:

Hey Mona

You can actually create sub-domains on your server with Hostgator - pretty easy to do. And then, you can install your WP software into the right folder for the new site on your server.

We explain how to do this inside our members only forum area. For more information about becoming a member, please go here:

Thank you for making these videos so easy to follow. I feel so accomplished already, especially because I’m not a tech gal!

I’d like to make one suggestion: Having the times linked or posted along with the chapters/sections in each video would be very helpful. That way, if people missed something from the previous chapter (and I did many times!), it would be easy to find the section because it is mentioned with the time on the video (i.e. Section: How to download Wordpress Time: 14:37) I hope that makes sense.

Thanks again!

I really enjoyed the first 3 videos. They were clear and concise and made absolute sense. Unfortunately this could not be said for video 4 and I got completely lost in this one. I take my time going through each one, printing off the pictures of the screen shots and taping them onto lined paper with explanatory notes. This allows me to follow each step exactly. I had 7 full pages of notes and wasn’t even half way through.video when none of what Yaro was doing made any sense. Why create anoher user when I thought that I was going to be the user?? As I said I got lost and gave up. I will try video 5 and see if it makes more sense.

Hey Yaro and Gideon,

Well, I know what course I’ll be joining this summer…(:-)
Got you covered guys, seriously got you covered..!

I’m just taking time to absorb all the information and videos, follow the instructions before signing up for the premium plan.

My question to you is, can I use the latest version of Wordpress 3.0 - is it stable?

Also, I am supposed to be writing up my dissertation, how much time will I need to dedicate to the mastermind course and creating content.

I don’t really want to wait till the end of September before I go premium..(:-)
Pls let me know what you think guys..

Love love
Sarah Dee

Gideon Shalwick Reply:

Hey Sarah

To be honest, I have not tried out version 3.0 myself yet. But as with all major upgrades, there will always be some bugs.

So, my suggestion is that you wait a little longer until the next release, like 3.1 or something before upgrading. That will ensure some of the bugs get ironed out first.

Best regards

Gideon
