Yaro & Gideon,
These are a great set of videos.
I really appreciate the effort
you’ve gone into making these
videos as professional as possible.
They are not only easy to watch, they
are easy to listen to.
An excellent resource for those new to
blogging. I will certainly be recommending
these videos to others.
I watched 3 videos so far, they are all very clear, easy to understand, easy to follow. Thanks a lot.
But I don’t understand why we need to register a domain name in namecheap and do web hosting in hostgator. Why not we just do both things in one place?
Hi Nickolove
Thanks for your very kind comments. Yaro and I certainly made a big effort to make it as easy as possible for people to follow. And when people like you give us such positive feedback, it simply makes our day!
Thanks!

Hi Helen
Sorry for the late reply - but I suppose better late than never!
Yes, keeping both the domain name and host in the same place definitely seem simpler, but it’s not unnecessarily better. We’ve found that the features offered by Namecheap.com is better for domain names than those for Hostgator.com.
But theoretically, yes, you can keep them together if you want. But we just find that’s better doing this way.

awesome videos. i am trying to find my way through the jungle of how to become a blogger/internet marketer but i seemed to keep going round in circles until now.i am a technophobe and my eyes glaze over when i see anything remotely technical, eg whenever i read instructions on how to link domain names to web hosts or anything of a similar nature. gideons presentational style is so clear and concise (and you can pause and rewind the videos if you are not sure). i have learned more in a few hours than in the previous few months. i can´t believe this is free !! thanks for all your help guys, keep up the great work, marc
Hey Marc

Great video! But why not register domain name with Host Gator? Wouldn’t that cut out a step? Curious.
Thanks again - awesome series.
Followed your instruction in video 2, 3. Somehow used 2 different names for
username in namecheap and hostgator. Can’t access website or make changes in
profiles. What do I do?
Hi Lilla
Registering a domain name with Hostgator would cut out a step yes. I guess it comes down to personal preference. It’s not too crucial who you use for your domain name.
We’ve just decided to use Namecheap.com because they were recommended to us by a very well known internet marketer, and because the process of signing up with them is pretty straight forward.
I haven’t personally used the domain names from Hostgator, so I cant make a comment on that. But I CAN recommend that you try not to go with GoDaddy.com. They’ve got a few funny things with their setup that I wont go into right now.
Hope this helps!

Hi Danny
Sorry to hear you’re having some issues. I’m not sure I fully understand what you mean…
When you say “Can’t access website or make changes in
profiles”…what exactly do you mean? Which website are you referring to? Your own blog? Or namecheap.com and hostgator.com?
Let me know and perhaps I can help you out…
Gideon
followed your video at a cost of 60 dollars taking your advice only for the video to faulter on video 3 at the point where i was linking domain to host. unable to continue here any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Hi Steve
That’s a bit strange…
Although this kind of thing has happened before. I think it could have something to do with the video sharing service we are using.
But I’ve found a way to fix it…
Do the following:
1. Clean our your internet cache (see instructions here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/using/howto/customizing/clearcache.mspx)
2. Then hit refresh on the page where you were watching the video
3. Then try to watch the video again
This should fix the problem in most cases.
It may also be a good idea to press play to start the video, and then press the pause button a few seconds later. Then wait until the whole video has downloaded before you hit the play button again.
Alternatively, you can also try to watch the video directly from our video sharing service. Just use this link:

Let me know if you have any more problems ok?

Hi Gideon,
1.5 months later and I’m STILL using the videos as a reference tool! Don’t ever take them down, otherwise I’ll forget how to do the whole set-up thing. LOL.
I know what you mean about GoDaddy. I have a few domains registered there and I find their interface VERY difficult to navigate. Enough said.
Hi Lilla
That’s awesome! Glad the videos are still helping you out!
Talk soon!
Gideon Shalwick
Videos #3, #4, #5 and #6 would not load or play. Downloaded Adobe Flashplayer 9 and restarted computer. No luck. Any suggestions?
Hi Max
Have you tried cleaning our your internet cache?
Here’s a page that shows you how:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie6/using/howto/customizing/clearcache.mspx
Give that a go, and if it still doesn’t work, let me know.
