Part 1
Part 2
Affiliate marketing has got to be one of the easiest ways ever to monetize your blog.
But it’s not just anyone who can start making money on their blogs with affiliate marketing. There are a few very important things that need to happen first, BEFORE you can even think about running successful affiliate marketing campaigns.
And that’s exactly what I talk about inside today’s video. I talk about:
- Why affiliate marketing is the greatest leverage you’ll ever get on the internet…
- 3 essential things you will need if you want to become successful at internet marketing…
- An example where I show you what we did to set up a US$7,800 per month income stream, that only took us a few hours of work…
This and more is revealed inside today’s video.
Remember to leave your comment below - I would love to hear from you!

Hi Gideon!
Very helpful. I was just thinking of being an affiliate for BAB. It’s a bit intimidating…
I figure since I am a blogger I can promote a blogging product.
Thanks again for a fab video.

Thanks Gideon, I tried the last BaB launch, but got on board way too late, however it was a huge learning curve. Also found assistance with a technical guy with my second launch of a site and placed the video (my 1st one) onto my main blog. Battling to cope with automateyourlist.com (aWeber) - that is with time and keeping up with the work load, my problem! Just to let you know that the automateyourlist.com is aweber and I got a very substantial discount taking on an annual subscription. No sales yet but I will get there. Joined Blog Mastermind and MSM, but have not even started those two courses yet! Yup time, I really don’t know where it goes, I need some of it back LOL

Thank you Gideon for a most informative video presentation. (And you’re a fellow Mac user too!)
I’m in the midst of upgrading my ancient, labour-of-love website to Web 2.0, and feeling passionate about creating an influential blog, that also earns me a better income than designing individual gardens for individual clients. I recently joined Niche Profit Classroom, already have an email list of fellow designers, horticultural journalists, conservationists and clients, and now I need to learn how to approach and charge selected eco-aware companies for affiliate marketing.

Gideon, great video and congratulations on your success with the Niche Profit Classroom promotion. It’s really impressive what you can do once you have a list of willing customers.
I’m trying to think of a way to incorporate the things you and Yaro teach into my blog, which is an interview-news site. But I may have to utilize these methods on other sites I’m working on. Thanks for creating great content!

Thank you Gideon for timely info!
If I may I would like to ask your advice on a blog challenge I have.
First, I am planning a product launch soon (see my listed website url). I am in the process of creating a blog that will be a “News” and “Product Reviews” blog to give reviews of the Affiliate products on the site. My question is concerning AFTER I post a product review would it be best to:
1. Archive all the reviews on this one central support blog…(by famous Gurus Name, and their product being reviewed…or
2. Create a permanent mini-site (3-4 pages) for theGuru Name and product specifically SEO’d of course…or
3. Create a seperate blog for each product Creator and their product(s) since they have great “Name pulling power” with the search engines…or
maybe a combination?
My thinking is if I do both Site/mini-site or Blog/Blog I should be able to build a larger list by having both. Am I right here or???
What do you feel would be the most productive?
Denny
P.S. Yaro and you are both Gurus on the site!

Hey Denny
I think option 1 sounds like the most streamlined approach.
Sounds like less work, and if it’s part of an authority blog with lots of traffic, it could help you get more sales.
Options 2 and 3 sound like a lot of work!

This video that Gideon has made is so informative, thorough and effectively planned out. As I stated on twitter, this is one of the best videos that I have seen about affiliate marketing.
I never pass a chance to learn something new and Gideon has done it once again with his marvelous free video. Congrats to you Gideon on another fabulous and informative video.

Hi Gideon,
As always thank you for this (& other) great content. It’s really appreciated.
Can I make a suggestion? Is it possible to make this information available via iTunes? Maybe it’s a selfish request, but I tend to put this stuff on my iPhone & watch it when I get a free few minutes (away from the desk). I usually don’t watch this at my PC (even at home) cuz there’s so much else to get done.
Just my 2c. Cheers

I find that I have more access, than the late night hours, with my BlackBerry SmartPhone and it’s nearly impossible to watch any videos on sites because most of them are flash or incompatible. Yet late evenings I am around my computer, but have little time to watch all the video info.
Wish there was a work around to this problem. Even an audio or down loadable audio is better than having to pass up so much info when the time becomes available.

They also give great info how to outsource your articles and research how to put your own Ebook together-said a enough-Depends which way you want to make money on the internet-To me this is doable-Aussie slang-

Nice advert. Ah, the art of satisfying Google’s desire for everything… SEO your site to Google’s liking whether it’s got good content or not, or better even, use PPC to promote it and perpetuate the slap.
Anyway, thanks, nice vid.

Hi Gideon
Appreciate you telling it like it is, and frankly discussing your current promotion.
I’ve had affiliates sell my software since 2005 and only now in 2009 am I becoming affiliates for others. I’ve neglected promoting other peoples IM products to my IM list even though my software is IM related and is a good match.
Why. Because I feel I can’t compete (even if I join all my own products together in a bonus pack) with the massive bonuses that the bigger players layout in the IM arena, so I just haven’t bothered. Just a mindset issue mostly.

Hello Gideon,
thanks for the great video highlighting the affiliate marketing, however browsing the various tips on the affiliate marketing+blogging combination, it’s always been more suited towards ‘make money online’ blogs, even in the above example, other niches for example the ‘computers’ niche don’t really provide recurring affiliate products. Any pointers to affiliate marketing+blogging which is less specific and not necessarily towards make money online blogs would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
PS - I usually don’t sign up for any online ‘make money’ courses because I can’t fit it into my budget however the credibility that comes along convinced me to try it out, and I must say niche profit classroom is a great course to say the least.

Which lapel mic are you using? Which do you recommend? Also, is there an artificial light source on you or is that simply an open window shade?
Thanks.

Hey Joshua
Thanks for your nice words!
I just use a cheap $30 mic that I got from the local electronics store here - it’s kinda weird because it performs better than my other $350 Sony bluetooth remote mic!
It really depends on your camera too, and I suggest you always test it out before you buy it. Testing is the key!
For light for this video, I just used the natural sunlight from the windows in the room. But on cloudy days, I normally use some construction lights and bounce the light off the ceiling to light up the whole room more.

Though I comment on this new video… Content is very good… You talk about good articles for our blogs and that you need a lot of them… Just I quick question I’m not that much of a writer and can maybe find some stuff on a topic for my blog… Is there a place where we can go to get unlimited articles and not pay an arm or leg and a pint of blood? I know you are a busy man so went you have time you need to do a video on getting content…
Thanks for your updates I enjoy them !

I think the best content you will ever produce is the content that you produce yourself. It just has so much more “oomph” when you create your own content, because you can really add your own personality.
If you don’t like typing, have you considered creating videos? Or audio podcasts?
I prefer video to typing myself.

Yes no doubt another good video Gideon!
For me a lot of people would like to know how their blog can make money from affiliate program because they want to make money real fast.
But something that they always forget are about the foundation of their blog. which need a great content, traffic and build list platform. There is no meaning about getting a good affiliate product on your blog but no visitor! Why people should buy affiliate product from your blog if they can buy it from other valueble blog or trusted internet marketer?
[Reply]
Hi Gideon,
Great video and covers the basics nicely from A-Z.
My question is this…
I currently offer my Internet Marketing skills to Small to Mid sized companies, Restaurants, Day spas, Physicians etc, and one of the things I focus on with them is offering Related affiliate products on their blog site I setup for them so they can generate 24/7 passive income streams.
However on my consulting blogsite, http://www.proactivemarketing4u.com, I would like your thoughts on what affiliate offers would be best to host on my own blog. Most other Internet Marketing Consultants usually have affil links to tools they use when setting up clients sites..i.e. “hostgator” Aweber banners etc but wouldn’t it be a wiser choice of offer affiliate products that relate to my target audience, or even offer advertising space on my blog to people that cater to that market as well vs just having affiliate links to IM tools? I currently cater to 4 markets so not sure which way best to go at this point.
Your thoughts appreciated
Tim

Yes! It would make much more sense to promote products that actually relate to the topic of your blog - you will get WAY better results.
If you cant find other digital products to promote, don’t forget that you can also approach other businesses offline and set up individual arrangements with them - eg you sell their stuff via your blog and get a commission.

The above video is hosted on http://www.viddler.com.
Here’s how I decide on where to host my videos:
1. If it’s less than 10 minutes long and I want it to be publicly available, then I use YouTube
2. If it’s more than 10 minutes long and I want it to be publicly available, then I use something like http://www.Viddler.com or http://www.Blip.tv - just be careful with Blip.tv, because they do not like any kind of videos with promotional content in them. They can shut you down without notice.
3. If I want to keep my videos private, and not accessible by the general public, I use our own hosting at Amazon S3. This is a little more complicated, but it allows me to stream videos that are only available to people I want it to be available to, for example paying members inside our course.
Hope that helps!

I agree with the other comments about the quality of your videos - very nice. I’m a big fan of affiliate marketing. Coming from a geeky software engineering background and many failed attempts at marketing, it was finally affiliate marketing that really taught me how to pay attention to the market and provide people with the things they are already interested in buying, rather than thinking that a better mousetrap would sell itself. Now I’m bringing that same message to small business owners who want to know how to market themselves more effectively online.

Gideon,
Dude!
Do you have any advice for promoting BAB for instance when your blog is in a weird niche like mine?
Doing a single post about blogging will get buried in the archives. I made a Resources page which has Aweber and Amazon on it so far, with banners in my sidebar and some book widgets in posts, but I don’t know how to optimize my Resources page or how to promote products that are not exactly in my niche. But you and Yaro sell products I really love and believe in so I want to promote them.

Hey Arlene
You will do much better if you promote products that relate to the niche that you are blogging about.
Think carefully about the type of person who is likely to visit your blog. And then go find appropriate products to promote to them. They will then be MUCH more likely to buy from you.
For example, if your blog is about fairy tales, you could maybe try and find digital books on fairy tales, or even use something like Amazon’s Affiliate program to promote books that relate to your niche.

Our list is probably average size compared to some of the big players out there. And we’re probably getting an average conversion rate for our promotions, compared to the industry standard. We can certainly do a lot of things still to improve our conversion rates. It’s just a matter of finding the time.

Hey Vilmis
http://www.Entrepreneurs-Journey.com took about 6 months before income started flowing in. However, it depends on a lot of factors. In some cases, it could take a lot shorter. For example, on one of my latest blogs, http://www.FreeMagicLive.com, we have seen a tremendous interest, and we are getting lots of traffic already after only 4 months. While we can already monetize the traffic, we have decided not to do that just yet. We first want to create some more amazing content, and generate some more traffic to our site, and then we will start monetizing.
Even though blogging may be a path that takes a little longer, the key thing about blogging is that it can provide you with the holy grail of success on the internet - long term, sustainable and targeted traffic! I have not come across a better “traffic vehicle” than blogging in all my years on the internet.
All the best!

Hi Gideon,
Yes, I agree it depends from a lot of factors, but you probably will agree that you or Darren are in different boat comparing with other bloggers, especially beginners. It takes months or years to build reputation till you can start monetize affiliate campaign by sending only couple emails. Beginners bloggers should be aware about that and not give up after couple months.
