The essence of an X-Factor technique is combining multimedia, such as audio or video, with a social media service. The idea is that multimedia has more impact than text and through the use of social media you can syndicate the content further, thus bringing more traffic back to your blog.
The single most powerful X-Factor tool I’ve seen in recent months is YouTube. We all know how good Google is at delivering traffic and ever since Google purchased YouTube, they have placed YouTube videos at the top of their search result pages. As a result of this, simply learning how to effectively use YouTube to market your videos can bring in significant traffic back to your blog.
I’ve had first hand experience seeing how many of my student’s blogs benefit tremendously from YouTube, so much in fact that they haven’t needed to focus on much other content. I’m talking about hundreds of daily unique visitors coming from YouTube and Google within a matter of weeks, just by using YouTube with a few smart optimization techniques.
The problem, which this video helps you solve, is how exactly to get the most from YouTube.
In this X-Factor video Gideon reveals 7 tips you can use to optimize your YouTube videos to bring in maximum traffic for your blog. This really is killer stuff and I promise you, if you do each technique, you will get results.
Do You Want An Insider’s Edge?
This is just one X-Factor video from the Become A Blogger Premium 2.0 course.
Inside the program is a full range of X-Factor techniques for each different area of building a successful blog, plus the entire series of training videos on how to set up and optimize your blog, create powerful content, market your blog and of course, make money from the audience you build.
If you’re new to blogging, want to build a truly successful blog with traffic and income, and you like to learn via video, don’t miss the opening of Become A Blogger Premium 2.0 on June 29th.
The program will open for five days only, then close up. You can take the course over six months paying a low monthly fee, or pay a one time fee for access to all 60+ videos at once (plus the other resources we provide in the program).
We anticipate this will be the last public opening for the program in 2009. The first run during the first six months of 2009 was hugely successful, with over 1,000 eager blogging students participating. If you want to take your blogging serious throughout the rest of this year, then please join us next Monday.
You can sign up at this page from 29th June -

Fantastic Video!
I’ve been meaning to learn more about my Youtube channel, and now I’m motivated to do so!
The first video I ever published actually lacked any reference to my website! Fortunately, I’ve been able to go back and make adjustments. So many new things to learn and love!
Good to see you on here too Keller!
Referencing your website/blog is essential when you do YouTube videos. I see YouTube as this massive traffic generation potential for your own blog.
What’s great about YouTube is that you can always go back to older videos and add your website links in the description area, and and you can also use annotations to add your website address inside the video – that will help you capture a lot more of traffic from YouTube.
All the best!

great video, I learned alot from it and also like the step 7 , pinging your channel. I will use these steps in the future. Mike
Hey Mike
The pinging tip is something that not many people know about. And remember to not overuse it. Only once a day per channel or blog.

Cool video. Thanks for putting it together.
I already knew about Pingoat but hadn’t thought of it for Youtube. Although I confess that making videos isn’t something I’ve done a lot of in the past, it is something I intend to rectify in the near future.
One question about pinging the youtube channel via Pingoat. Any suggestions on what to put in as the name of the blog, since your Youtube channel isn’t technically a blog? Not too sure if this makes much of a difference but best to check before I go spill the beans to everyone. : )
Thanks again.
Hey Susan
For the “blog name” field, just enter in the name of your YouTube channel – or if your YouTube channel name is not very descriptive, just add a brief description of what your YouTube channel is about.
And for the “blog url” field, just enter the url of your YouTube channel.
That should give you great results!

Thanks Gideon, I really appreciated your video.
I found many tips for my own Youtube account, especially the ones about Ping section.
I’m happy also to have at my disposition a transcript.
I know you place it always, but I will never end to be gratefu, because I’m not an english mother tongue.

Hey Allessandro
You actually have an advantage in your own language – if you optimize your videos in your own language, you should show some really amazing results. The main reason for this is because you’ll have very little competition.

Hi guys!
Thanks for the info…the youtube rss feed tip is a killer!
Jorge
Hey Jorge
Yeah, I love that tip too. It’s so simple when you think about it, but very effective.
Another cool thing about the rss thing for YouTube, is that you can subscribe to all your favorite YouTube channels using your rss feed reader, like Google Reader for example. That’s pretty awesome!

Gideon, Great Video just started using youtube myself about a month ago. Thanks for the Tips will have to try them all out. I also heard that it helps to name the video with a name relavent to what is is able as that also get searched. So don’t use wmv001 call the video file something that relates to the content.
Hey Jared
Ok, thanks! I was not aware of that one.
Great tip!

Hi Gideon, thanks for the info. I’ve just experimented with videos on Youtube – I only have two uploaded, but have ideas for practical ones that pertain to my blog. You’ve got me thinking now!

Thanks for clearing up that up. This really is neat. : )
I actually did a video a while ago on getting backlinks using RSS feeds. At the time I was thinking mainly around blogs and articles, but I don’t see any reason this can’t be used for Youtube as well.
If anyone is interested you can watch it on Youtube lol

Yes, like Susan, I got a bit confused about that last part of the video as well. (Maybe still am!) I’ll be copying the that particular part of these comments into Notepad and putting it right beside the pdf in the folder!
Thanks for the great video!
Hey Sue
Yeah my apologies – I did not make my instructions clear enough for that bit. But my comment above should fix it all up

Hey guys
no worries. I practised my video skills and did a short video just on that part of that equation. Don’t want to put links all over all your comments so if you use the link to the previous video you should be able to find it from there.
Thanks Susan!
Hi Gideon,
I posted this video on my blog. I have a question, though.
I notice that you use Viddler rather than YouTube to embed this video in this post. I imagine that you’d recommend using as many video sharing sites as you can.
But do you prefer one over another when it comes to using them in posts?
Hey Trisha
I actually prefer just using YouTube mostly – especially for traffic.
But sometimes I would just use Viddler because I like the quality of their videos and they allow me to have videos longer than 10 minutes.
I personally prefer the focused approach where you use one service, and get really involved with the community there, rather than spreading yourself thin and not getting to know anyone really.
It’s probably a bit of personal choice, but I prefer the focused approach… it’s also less “spammy”.
Gideon Shalwick
Become A Blogger
I like the ‘more focused’ and ‘less spammy’ approach you describe. Makes more sense.
Also providing a professional looking video, Yaro’s video always look good quality. Others I have seen on Youtube look so tacky and I would imagine drive people away.
Thanks for the great video,Gideon. Great advice!
No probs Miami – you’re welcome

I noticed that the better videos tend to have a music jinggle in the front or back back to create even better impact similar in podcasts as well. It also make them stand out. Music have a big impact on people
Hey Sarah
Yeah I totally agree!
For YouTube though, whenever you use intro music, just make sure it’s nice and short… no longer than 5-10 seconds – otherwise you’ll lose people before they even start watching your video.
All the best!

Great video and content, as usual: thanks for sharing it.
I just watched your video on Youtube. Curious as to why you don’t use the options beyond “general” with pingoat? I’m also curious if you know of a simple way to embed youtube videos that other people make into your blogs and not have them open up when they get double clicked?
Hey Apex Car Rental
The General setting will allow you to cover all the important services.
The non-English services are only relevant if you are targeting any of the non-English blogs out there.
And the special services are optional – but you can use them if you want.
Results may vary depending on your niche, so it’s definitely worth testing.
All the best!
Gideon Shalwick

Thank you. I guess that makes sense if you are not marketing to non English markets. Did you understand what I meant about the double click. I know you can add a parameter to prevent the “related videos” from showing… but if someone double clicks a youtube video they leave your site and off they go to youtube. I realize that youtube is in business to make money, but it seems I read somewhere there was a way to disable that feature. But I can’t find it anywhere.
Hey Apex Car Rental
No, I have not found a way inside YouTube to prevent that from happening.
For videos where I dont want people to go to YouTube or whatever free video hosting service I’m using, I would normally just host the videos myself. But this is a totally different topic and has a lot more comlications.
All the best!

Hi Gideon,
Yes, it is very cool and interesting video tutorial.
I can see it helped a lot of people to improve their goals.
I was just qurious, did you ever think of creating a video tutorial / free or not/ about compiling powerpoint presentations with youtube video chanels?
Best,
Cvetanski
Hey Cvetanski
Thank you for your kind words…
Not sure I fully understand your question… do you mean to ask whether I am thinking about creating a video tutorial showing you how to create powerpoint presentation on youtube?
The answer for this is… yes I have thought about doing something like this, but have not found the time for it yet.
Or are you asking whether I’ve thought about just submitting my own powerpoint video tutorials to youtube?
The answer for this is… yeah I’ve done this quite a few times now. But often I use other videos sharing sites too, especially if my videos are longer than 10 minutes.

Gideon,
Fantastic job! You really hit on some key points about dropping your URL and the basic setup that everyone either screws up or misses all together. My guess is most everyone when setting up a YouTube account (or other profiles for that matter) generally overlook this and yet it’s so crucial to having a successful campaign.
With your easy to follow training I can see this benefiting a lot of people. Now instead of skipping this important step, people can be guided step by step and follow exactly how the pro’s do it.
With online marketing changing all the time it’s nice to follow the hidden rules the experts use and benefit from the results they produce. You can literally double, triple your traffic and exposure by following simple rules like this.
Great job Gideon!

Jared

I found it very useful during a recent YouTube video campaign that I ran for some extra promotion. These tips helped me to stay focused on the important elements of making an effective video that will direct traffic back to my site. Useful information as always Yaro and Gideo, it is much appreciated.

Great vid – learn something new everyday. Plan to start using video for my high blood pressure blog soon. Thanks. HK
That’s a great, informative video.
I have to say, if I see a “sales video” from some of the Big Name guru’s – I’m outta there!! But this video kept me entranced. Truly. (And it’s also got me to sign up to the Roadmap.)
Pushed for time now, but intend to watch the other free vids in due course too.
You’re welcome Chris!
