The Free Lunch Room is a place that is well known to MOST freebie traders. It is a place that got many people started making money online. If you are doing research on the Freebie Industry, you WILL come across the Free Lunch Room. If you are a freebie trader and never heard of FLR, where in the world have you been?

What the Free Lunch Room is about
The Free Lunch Room is an online forum where new traders can go to get paid for being someone's referral and where more advanced Freebie Traders can go to find referrals. Yes, there are other forums out there, but FLR is by far the most active and because of that, this is where most people get started.

There are three main subforums at FLR where people actually make money. I will deal with them individually:

  • Trading Referral For Referral: This is where people go to exchange greens. In other words, I go green for you if you go green for me. This is most commonly called trading Green for Green (G4G) and is a very good way of transitioning from Method 1 to Method 2. You can read more about this method here.
  • Paying for Referrals: This subforum serves a twofold purpose. This is one of the main places people get referrals. A freebie trader does this by posting a trade thread in this subforum, showing potential referrals what freebie sites (and training) they have to offer.
  • Looking to Complete Offers: This is where new traders go to advertise themselves as individuals who are Looking to be referrals for other traders.

What's great about FLR is that there is a lot there in terms of support. Most of the support that you get are from Freebie Traders. There are a number of subforums dedicated to getting support. In my opinion, the subforum that is most helpful for people with questions is the Lunch Packing Assistance subforum. If you have a question, you can post it there and you get an answer within minutes. There are also subforums dedicated to some of the leading Freebie sites, where support personnel from those sites are available to answer your questions.

How the Free Lunch Room is run
There are two Administrators at FLR. Their usernames are Administrator (appropriately so) and Gladiator. They deal with the technical issues at FLR and are basically the ones with the final say as to what happens at FLR.

There are currently 7 Moderators at FLR. Their usernames are appie, iluvmy5babies, Marybnsn, mfracc, MzTammy, taterbaby, wookie0611. These are the guys that really keep the forum going. They deal with the day to day tasks, checking the forum to make sure people are following the rules and answering questions in general. They do a lot of work to ensure the success of FLR and the safety of the traders.

If you are considering using FLR as one of your ways of getting referrals, there are certain things you need to keep in mind. Because of how popular FLR is, there is an increasing amount of competition. However, this is NOT necessarily a bad thing. Being successful at FLR demands that you try to do what it takes to set yourself apart from everyone else. You can do this by presenting yourself as someone who is knowledgable about the freebie industry and willing to help others. If you are thinking “But I don't know as much as I should”, don't worry – you are in the right place. A great place to start is by reading my article series on trading at Freebie Forums.

So what about the complaints?
There are a number of complaints that I've heard personally about FLR. Some people say that the rules are too strict, or that there is too much competition, or even that there are a lot of scammers. In terms of the rules, yes they are strict. However, that is what the industry demands to protect the safety of the traders. Actually, in my opinion, there are certain areas that they can be more strict in, but that's not what this article is about.

In terms of the other two “complaints”, my response to that would be that no online forum is perfect. Yes, there will be some vulnerabilities and there will most definitely be competition. What it boils down to (in my opinion) is that YOU need to take responsibility for your own actions. Study the industry and understand what you are doing and you will stand out above the rest and you will not get scammed. I have not been scammed by one trader to date, but that's because I took the time to understand the industry. Like I said, if you feel that you don't know enough, you are in the right place.
