  9. Joan February 2, 2010 at 11:01 pm #

    Hi Guys,

For those who are still thinking about joining……

I started out on Become a Blogger then set off to join two of Yaro’s other courses. As a green ‘Newbie’ I found this manner of mentoring exceptional. You can download the courses and do them at your own pace.

Getting into the Forum is a massive bonus with a lot of interaction between all bloggers that join.

Telephone conferences are great, unfortunately I am unable to get onto the live calls – due to time zone where I live, but I have downloaded and listened in to quite a few of the calls whilst working away on projects.

If you decide to join up – you will definitely be making a good decision. This is a lifetime decision, this does not close the doors on you in six months or a year, as mentioned I have been at it since Dec 2008. Have yet to complete one or two of courses all the way (time), however I know they will not just disappear – so will get to them.

Become a Blogger I worked through all the way and found it really awesome.

Thanks Gideon and Yaro, a ‘buck’ well spent!

    • Gideon Shalwick February 3, 2010 at 2:23 am #

      Wow Joan!

Thanks so much for your very kind words. I’m so glad to hear that you’ve enjoyed the course and also Yaro’s other two courses.

      All the best!

  10. Tommy Wishman February 3, 2010 at 2:01 am #

    Hi Gideon.

Perfect video again! Solid information and explained very well. I’m really glad you’re making this videos!

I do have a question. If you redirect people to the customer registration page this people know the url of this page. Can they just copy the url and send it to their email list of is this covered?

Thanks again for these great videos.

    Bye Tommy

    • Gideon Shalwick February 3, 2010 at 2:26 am #

      Hey Tommy

Yes, people will be able to share the registration page with others. But it’s not really a big issue because you’ll be able to tell when that happens – you’ll all of a sudden start getting email subscriptions without getting paid!

In that case, all you need to do is remove those people from your list and change the date and time of your event so that they wont know when the call is live.

But seriously, I think the chances of this happening are extremely low, since the people who get to the registration page have already paid, so the chance of them sharing that link is a little self defeating.

      Talk soon!

      Gideon

      • Darla February 3, 2010 at 6:19 am #

Great info as usual. Of course people will not put the registration page into their blog navigation. Could you also use another site like a dot org for this stuff?

        Darla

      • Tommy Wishman February 3, 2010 at 6:57 am #

        Hey Gideon,

Thanks for your answer on my question. I agree the possibility is not that big. And otherwise, who sais that the other people would pay to see the webinar anyway? Probably they wouldn’t. So it’s not that we’ll lose a lot of money we should have earned.

I saw that the webinar software you showed us pretty expensive is. About $1000. How do you think about free programs like ustream.tv? They offer the possibility to work with a password. So than you could sent the password to the customers?

        Bye.

        Tommy

        • Gideon Shalwick February 3, 2010 at 12:47 pm #

          $1000?

I’m pretty sure it’s only $100/month for the GoToWebinar software…

But if you sign up for the 30 day free trial you can check it out at no cost…

          Gideon

  11. Sean February 3, 2010 at 3:57 am #

How much is the become a blogger course?

    Thanks
    Sean

    • Gideon Shalwick February 3, 2010 at 12:49 pm #

Same as last time Sean – $47 per month for 6 months, and then you get lifetime access, as long as it depends on me and Yaro.

Also, don’t forget the special $1 trial we’re offering when we open doors – that will give you access to the course for one full week before the normal payments kick in.

In other words, you can check out the course for only $1 to see if it’s “your cup of tea” :)

      Talk soon!

      Gideon

        Thanks Gideon.

  12. Francisco H. Perez DJ In Houston February 3, 2010 at 6:57 am #

Great Videos… They definitely got my mind thinking of how I can do a webinar for my readers…

  13. normz2 February 3, 2010 at 7:04 am #

Great videos! Very professional. Thanks for the information, I will be following.

  14. Mark February 3, 2010 at 9:47 am #

    Tommy,

Actually, GoToWebinar registration creates a link that is unique to each participant, so upon registration they receive that unique link…if they share it, someone other than themselves may enter the webinar ahead of them and they (the paying customer) would be blocked out. I think Gideon intended to redirect the customer (after PayPal purchase) to a GoToWebinar registration page, which is provided in the software as he mentions. But the concept is the same. Great tutorial nonetheless!! Keep up the great work Gideon.

    • Gideon Shalwick February 3, 2010 at 12:51 pm #

      Good point Mark!

I also like having the option to collect people’s contact details in my own database, separate from that of GoToWebinar so that I can keep in touch with them. This makes for a powerful way of building a loyal and responsive customer list inside Aweber.

      Thanks!

      Gideon

  15. Allison February 3, 2010 at 10:07 am #

Hi, I can’t get access to the second video either. Very interested as it could provide an interesting path for my online revision courses I am developing. I tried refreshing and still no luck.
First video was very interesting and well made, as usual.

    • Gideon Shalwick February 3, 2010 at 12:52 pm #

      Hey Alison

Have you tried a different browser?

Unfortunately I had to use another service for the second video because it was too long for YouTube.

But try my suggestion first and see what happens…

Otherwise, send me an email at support[AT]becomeablogger.com and I’ll see if I can arrange something else for you.

      Best regards

      Gideon

    Hi Gideon

Who is Andy Jenkins?!!**………..your stuff is much more practical. Love the way you do the shots in black and white. I bought Become a Blogger the first time around and it has really helped me.. So if anyone is considering it..really well worth it.
I am just finishing off a “webinar” series test run………. only I have used Gotomeeting as there are only 5 people. They are enjoying it though. It is a dry run for gotowebinar next time!!

A couple of years ago I would never have had the confidence to do that!

So thanks to you and Yaro

Keep up the great work Gideon

    LOL
    Denisex

      Hey Denise

So nice to have you on here! You’re comments always put a smile on my face :)

Great stuff for taking action on running your own webinars – so much fun hey?

      All the best!

  17. David Risley February 3, 2010 at 12:50 pm #

Just thought I’d chime in for a moment…. Guys, pay attention to Gideon and Yaro on this. Webinars really are powerful. I did one a bit over a week ago and pulled in about $18K in about 3 hours. It works like CRAZY.

Oh, and killer video Gideon. Very pro. :)

    • Gideon Shalwick February 3, 2010 at 12:56 pm #

      Hey David

Thanks man! Yeah our experience was the same.

The webinar lasted for about 3 hrs and we made over $13k.

Although of course there was a bit of setup time beforehand, it’s still an amazingly powerful and leveraged way of making money online.

      Talk soon!

      Gideon

PS: If you’re reading this, be sure to check out David’s website as well – he’s a real pro with this stuff too and I’ve been following his progress for a while now – well recommended!

  18. Kieran February 3, 2010 at 7:55 pm #

    Hey Gideon,

Another stellar video tutorial from you – it just fills in the gaps on “how” you do it. I’m a meta-thinker BTW.. ;)

    Question on the registration page..
With other GoToWebinars I’ve participated on and when registering, you register on the GTW page, which offers the timezone conversion feature. As I’m based in New Zealand and the webinars are in a different timezone, I always use the link to convert to NZ time.

With your approach, are you bypassing this option by directing the participant to your own registration page on your blog?

Secondly, am I correct in understanding from an earlier response of yours that the objective of your own registration page is to capture the names of your participants for your AWeber list? And that if you did not do do this, the names are effectively stored with GTW and cannot be used for a list going forward?

    Thanks in advance!
    Kieran

  19. jurgen February 3, 2010 at 8:44 pm #

    Great post, Gideon!
I am a regular follower on forex webinars. They sure are a fantastic teaching facility and of course marketing. – I am still a long way away from either but definitely will want to head in this direction. Thanks for sharing your experience in setting up a webinar. Jurgen

  20. Charles DAmico February 3, 2010 at 9:20 pm #

    Gideon,

That was a very powerful presentation. I have an Online Mall & I would like to have a live Webinar to show customers my producys. Also show customers how to navigate around and buy a product.

    Charlie

  21. Christopher Govender February 3, 2010 at 11:54 pm #

Thank you Gideon. Your presentations are top drawer. I am developing my blog in a market which is big and continuously evolving. So far with yours and Yaro’s help I have managed to define some areas which my established ‘competition’ neglect and or do differently. This will be a definite X Factor for me.

  22. nick February 4, 2010 at 7:35 am #

Great advice, thanks. One point – the sign up page, where the customer enters their name and email address after paying for the webinar, I presume your supposed to make this page private is that correct? Or else they could just navigate to this page and sign up without paying….or have I missed something?

  23. V February 4, 2010 at 2:19 pm #

Gideon, very good videos thank you.
Question for you: what if i don’t use WordPress, but rather Blogspot instead? does it work the same?

  24. Wendy February 5, 2010 at 3:52 am #

Hi Gideon – would be helpful if you’d reveal the regular price per week after the $1 special finshes. Sounds a bit dodgy keeping that information to yourselves. I’m sure it’s great content but this marketing approach is pretty unappealing.

    Thanks
    W

    • Gideon Shalwick February 5, 2010 at 4:14 am #

      Hey Wendy

Sorry about that – the trial last for one week and then the normal payments of $47 per month kicks in for a total of 6 months.

It’s pretty clear with our sales process.

      Thanks for the reminder.

      All the best!

      Gideon

  25. David February 5, 2010 at 5:31 pm #

    Gideon
exceptional clarity you seem to get better with time – like a good wine!!

I can’t believe I,ve spent so much time and money trying to put toghther the elements of a webinar and you nailed it so specifically. Beautiful.
For the less techncally minded the tip on using WP to create a sales page is fantastic. I have been outsourcing this at $100 a pop thinking it had to be in HTML!!.

Do you use a template to manage your graphics in the WP pages?
If you publish the pages in WP admin panel do they appear on the blog or is there a trick there??

Great stuff – thank you very much

    David

  26. Logan February 6, 2010 at 6:22 am #

    Nice video thanks for posting.

    A question:
Don’t you secure the opt in page for the webinar. I mean the page where people are sent to after paying. Can’t they find this page on your blog without paying? There is no link to this page of course, but can’t they find it anyway? Or do you just not worry about that?

  27. Al February 7, 2010 at 1:24 am #

    Gideon
I am in a part of the world where internet is so slow and streaming video impossible. Do you know of a program that will record the incoming stream so that I can watch it later without constant pauses?

    Al

P.S. I am a Become A Blogger member already and want to thank you and Yaro for making it possible for me to get my blog up and running. I am really enjoying it.

  28. Stéphane February 14, 2010 at 10:48 pm #

So, has the part2 been re-uploaded somewhere ?

    • Gideon Shalwick February 15, 2010 at 4:38 pm #

      Hey Stéphane

Hmmm… looks like Viddler deleted our account without notice, so the 2nd video will not work right now.

I will get it uploaded to another service – not going to use Viddler anymore that’s for sure!

      Gideon

  29. Gianluca February 16, 2010 at 5:20 am #

The second video is no longer avaible… can you check it out, please?

    • Gideon Shalwick February 22, 2010 at 1:41 pm #

Sure thing… we’re working on it. Will be up soon!

      Gideon

  30. Eat Smart Age Smart February 19, 2010 at 7:24 am #

    Gideon,

Will you announce to the list when the second video is made available again or via Yaro’s list?

I had booked time to review this and got excited after watching the first video,
but alas Viddler had other plans :-(

    Thanks,

    Krizia

    • Gideon Shalwick February 22, 2010 at 1:42 pm #

      Hey Krizia

We’ll get the video uploaded to another service real soon… just pop back here in about 48 hrs again… should be all set then…

      Gideon

  31. Greg February 21, 2010 at 2:46 pm #

    Hi Gideon,

Any luck getting the second video back up…would love to see it!

    Greg

  32. Bill March 12, 2010 at 8:41 am #

    Gideon,
I noticed you used your email client (Aweber) for registrations and NOT GoToWebinar’s registration page. Is that right? Is there another registration that has to occur with GoToWebinar?

I assume the advantages are that you capture registration emails and add automatically add them to your database.

If you have GoToWebinar capture the registrations and emails, you can’t automatically add them to your database/email service. Thanks for the great videos.

    • Gideon Shalwick March 18, 2010 at 9:02 pm #

      Hey Bill

Correct – I like getting people’s details into my own system (Aweber) so that I can communicate to them separately.

      Gideon

  33. Fred April 2, 2010 at 1:52 pm #

Gideon, may i ask you which resolution are you using for the keynote slides? I have keynote 09 but i can’t reproduce this 16:9 layout.
    How you do this?

    Thanks :D

    • Gideon Shalwick April 2, 2010 at 3:15 pm #

      Hey Fred

I just record my screen and use that same resolution. It’s not quite 16:9, but when I embed the video, I fiddle with the size settings to make it look good.

      Regards

      Gideon
